IES Brochure 2008-2009

On the 8th of June 2010 the IES launched its new brochure:
‘Science for the environment’.
The brochure gives an insight into many activities and achievements of the JRC’s Institute for Environment and Sustainability over the past two years.
A set of easy-to-read texts, colourful images, detailed maps and graphs explain how environmental research carried out by the IES contributes to EU policies.
The brochure is divided into four main chapters dealing with environmental issues associated with Prosperity, Security, Solidarity and those which have a Global Perspective. It includes a general overview of the Institute, information on our partners and feedback from customers, and sets out some of the challenges for the future. In an attempt to reach a wider audience, explanations of scientific and technical terms are also provided.
Leen Hordijk, the IES Director says:
‘I invite you to read through or dip into this brochure, which I believe provides a wonderfully accessible overview of the IES’ activities. I hope that the information contained here will help inspire you to join us in tackling the increasingly complex environmental challenges facing us today’.
