The Partnership for European Environmental Research (PEER) has decided to mobilize its expertise to promote and support the implementation of the Agenda 2030 and the SDGs. Towards this end, PEER has launched a project “Tackling and managing risks with SDGs” (PEER-TRISD). A new Policy Brief summarises some of the first results from PEER-TRISD, including a co-creation workshop on risks and sustainable development held in Brussels early 2019.

The PEER research initiative aims to create a common understanding on how to identify, monitor and manage SDG related risks. By analyzing the existing UN, EU and national level systems the goals of the project are to identify, monitor and manage risks relevant to the implementation of the SDGs.

The project involves systematic and systemic consideration of different types of risks is needed to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
