JRC contribution to DG-AGRI short-term outlook


The Short-term outlook for EU agricultural markets in 2018 and 2019, which presents the outlook for 2018-2019 for arable crops and meat and dairy markets in the EU, was published by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Agriculture today.

The report shows that EU cereal production is making a recovery, increasing by 10mt from 2016 to 2017. Oilseed production is expected to increase. Rapeseed is expected to increase by 9% over 2016-2017 levels.

The report uses crop yield forecasts coming from the JRC MARS Crop Yield Forecasting System (AGRI4CAST) in its projections for arable crops and cereal production in 2018.
