More than half of the world's population now lives in cities, and the free online event organised by the PEER network will share research on the health impacts of climate change, pollution and the loss of nature, as well as the environmental sustainability of urban expansion.
The event from 11.30am-1pm CET on 11 June will involve talks by experts in urban green spaces as well as a question and answer session.
- The programme for the webinar, How interaction with the environment and urban nature affects our health, is as follows:
Presentation of the City Explorer Toolkit – David Fletcher of the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology - Urban greening and environmental justice in the Paris metropolitan area – Léa Tardieu of INRAE.
- Mortality reductions from heat mitigation by urban green spaces in Paris – Marianne Zandersen of the Danish Centre for Environment and Energy.
- Environmental justice in a very green city (Oslo) – Zander Venter of CIENS.
- Environmental sustainability of urban expansion – Susana Lopez-Aparicio of CIENS.
- Domestic gardens and morbidity – Sjerp de Vries of Wageningen.
PEER webinars are held regularly throughout the year, with recent events looking at the use of machine learning and AI.
