Negative weather conditions hampered crop growth and development in several regions. In Spain, persistent dry conditions started to impact one of Europe’s most important barley-producing regions. Winter barley and soft wheat crops were negatively affected by persistent low soil moisture and cold conditions in northern France, Luxembourg and southern Belgium.

In western France, durum wheat suffered from a persistent lack of precipitation. Dry weather conditions were also reported in Italy, the United Kingdom and Ireland, but so far with little or no negative impacts on the yield outlook at national level.

Unusually cold conditions in large parts of western, central and northern Europe, affected rapeseed flowering in Germany, central Europe and Poland.
