Experiments in climate governance

Experimentation has been proposed as a key way in which governance drives sustainability transitions. This article seeks to bring greater coherence to the literature and practice of climate and sustainability governance experiments through a systematic review of articles published between 2009 and 2015. Based on the results a new typology of climate governance experiments is suggested in order to identify their salient features. These are niche creation, market creation, spatial development and societal problem solving.
